Well, Miss Vermont did a 'dramatic' science experiment, so I think the talent
portion has undergone some expansion in recent years.

Personally, I think the clogging would have been an easier target for the yuks,

Sorry, we’ll have to disagree. I didn’t see The View, but an abbreviated
TED-like talk, no matter what the subject, is out of place in a segment that
features the contestants showing off a skill in one of the arts. Years of hard
work and dedication go into learning to sing, dance, or play an instrument.
Those who do well in that part of the competition should be admired and move
forward in the competition. If Miss Colorado got dinged for her “performance”
– either by the judges or the View ladies – she deserved it. BTW I like the
winner for having an old-fashioned name. There are not too many Bettys around
these days.

of Miss Colorado doing what I thought was a remarkably moving and effective
monologue about being a nurse, in actual scrubs (not a slut-nurse Halloween
costume, or whatever else would be appropriate for the Miss America contest)
today sent me another video of the the horrible View people making fun of the
Nurse for...what exactly for the life of me I can not figure out. It seems for
not showing as much boob and leg as the next contestant.
WTF?
This nurse monologue is about the only decent thing I can imagine happening at
the Miss American contest since, well, ever. Bashing this OTOH seems about
typical for both inexplicability, idiocy and superficialness for The View.
