I think they did.

I appreciate Bob posting these Amazon deals, and hope he keeps doing it.
But every time he does I always wonder what is going on with the TV on DVD
market. There was a time not that long ago when I was a pretty active buyer
in that marketplace, buying whole season's of serial dramas to binge watch
just prior to the start of the next season, or several seasons worth of
prestige dramas to catch up on, and not infrequently box sets of my
favorite series, both to re-watch on occasion, but also just to have and
display as I might favorite books. But I have not purchased any TV content
on DVDs in at least three years (I think the last was the box set of
*Columbo* that my family got me just because they knew how much I loved him
and there was a very good deal on Amazon). We made an intentional decision,
around the time that we first started streaming content on Netflix
(reinforced by both Amazon Prime and then the streaming access to the
entire HBO library) to invest the money we were previously spending on DVDS
into streaming subscriptions. I have not done the math, but I am sure we
are ahead this way, though I guess a day may come when I wish I had The
Wire on DVD if I ever lose access to the HBO library for some reason.

All of which to say, I think we should expect the Friends box set to go on
75% discount fairly often (my college students now are very familiar with
that show, though I think Netflix, or is it Amazon?).and I will be
interested to see if pretty soon they settle on a lower standard price
point for all such items.
