In the 1980s, local news seemed to transition away from the "weather bunny." About a decade ago, the bunnies returned and have been multiplying ever since. The job can be done -- and done well -- by a woman. But the news directors know that every phone can provide the up-to-date weather info at a quick glance, eye candy is the only way to hold anybody's interest. Oh, and pets... lots of weather bunnies now appear at animal shelters with cute puppies and kittens.
