Yeah, this complicated relationship can be felt when looking at Star Trek,
which was split between CBS (everything but film) and Paramount (film library
and the new films). You can argue that CBS has not been as supportive of the
new films as it is the other parts of Trek, and the rollout of the new
television show may bear that out.

Well, it's complicated, but the easiest answer is they're separate companies
that are *controlled* (as opposed to "wholly owned") by National Amusements,
which is Summer Redstone's holding company. I imagine shareholders of Viacom
who aren't also shareholders of CBS would be very interested in their content
being given away gratis to a competitor.

structure? Why would Comedy Central care about Colbert-specific content going
