I am disappointed to hear this, but I guess not surprised. I thought
Wilmore's show has progressively improved since its debut and had hit its
stride. Even so, while I DVR the hour of TDS/TNS, I probably only watch TNS
half the time. But frankly, a lot of that is because I often do not really
enjoy the 30 minutes with Noah, and either fall asleep or do something else.

The NYT has more info on the ratings (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/
08/16/business/media/comedy-central-cancels-larry-
wilmores-late-night-show.html?_r=0), which do seem to support the
cancellation. Colbert was getting about 80% of TDS ratings, while Wilmore
is getting only 60% (down from 71% the first few months of the show). I
also would have thought they would give him through November to see if the
elections could help him catch a spark (even though the contracts expired
this month, it seems like they could have quietly done something like a 3
month extension, unless union rules prohibit that), but the Times reports
that Wilmore got no bump during the Conventions either.

There is a lot of mumbo jumbo in the release that I assume decodes into
Wilmore was not getting as many youtube and Facebook hits as they want,
which I guess is another way of saying that The Nightly Show was too much
of a grown-up show for CC (Wilmore will turn 55 in a few months). I like
the maturity of the show, but I guess TV does not turn on what people in
their 50s like.

While CC seems to spend a lot of time protesting how much more they are
liking Noah's TDS (apparently the kids are tweeting him more than Wilmore),
I suspect that show is more problematic. CC can not really afford to cancel
it now, but that show needs to get better PDQ.
