He is not growing on me. I am interested in what you are seeing in him that
you like, maybe I can start looking for them.

I think I commented early on in his tenure that I thought he was strongest
when he took the role of the outsider - commenting on American privilege
and excess from the POV of most of the world. Last night he had a quick hit
on American choices of yoghurt that was good (though I think we have heard
several variations on that from him before). It's just that I don't think
he adopts that POV consistently enough. He interviewed that white South
African actor the other night (or was that last night?) and I thought it
had potential to be really interesting when he asked the question about was
he seen as a racist when he told people he was a white South African, and
the guy said when they were young his dad used a fake accent and told
people they were from New Zealand. But I thought Noah missed both an
obvious tag on that (most Americans couldn't tell the difference, so they
didn't need the fake accent) and more importantly, did not give us his take
on the actors point that since he voted to free Mandela he does not have
white guilt, unlike a lot of white Americans. This is the kind of thing I
want to see Noah more consistently and confidently work both into his
interviews and his jokes and comic bits.
