We are pretty hard on JB, and most of it is deserved. But I give him credit
tonight - he was quiet and let us enjoy the crowd's reaction to tonight's
game, and then when he started droning on with one of his factoids, he had
the sense to shut up when the crowd's singing of "Go Cubs Go" shifted to a
cappella, and did not continue until the music started up again, which I
thought was prudent and classy.

Smoltz is not a hall of fame broadcaster, but he is a hall of fame former
pitcher, and one of the best former players I have heard at using his past
experience to make sense of what we are seeing on the field. He had several
excellent moments tonight.
