Damn, that's right - I forgot he was the first villain. Good call.

For some reason, the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard of 
Fritz's death - and this is not verbatim, it's been 35 years since I've 
seen this episode - but I recall Mariette Hartley on The Tonight Show 
telling Johnny a story about Fritz getting into a taxi and the cabbie 
immediately recognizing him. Fritz was not used to being recognized, so he 
asked "How do you know my name?" The cabbie replied, "Oh, I know all the 
nobodies."
