Jim Lowe had a taste of national fame in 1956 when his song "Green Door" knocked Elvis out of the number 1 slot on the Billboard charts, which got him some TV gigs (including hosting CBS' "Sing Along" with the recently deceased Florence Henderson), but is perhaps best known for his long career in radio, including a decade on NBC Radio's "Monitor" and over 25 years at New York's WNEW, where he rode the station's morph from MOR to adult contemporary and back to adult standards in the 80s:
