I don't know the circumstances around Connie Chung, but the network did not pay her Couric/Kelly money and who knows what the office politics were like in those days. NBC is not paying Kelly that kind of money to bury her on a cable affiliate. In the post-Conan world her side would negotiate the boundaries of what NBC could do to her.
