Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner were for a time co-owners not of MGM, but of UA, in partnership with MGM. Wagner was I think the CEO of whatever iteration of UA that was, this is about a decade ago. Wagner turned out a few (not many really) films over a couple of years, then they were bought out, I think by MGM, am not sure if Wagner maintained some involvement with UA after she left, but it looks like Cruise' films have been with Paramont lately (Last MI, Edge of Tomorrow, Jack Reacher II), so I dont think he is in any sense "helming" them.
