Looks like the official word is they are still friends but no longer partners, their production company seems to have ended around the same time as the UA thing. Cruise was not actively involved in decision-making at UA, and Wagner apparently screwed the pooch there, and could not pull the trigger on hardly any pics, costing them a lot of their funding.
Bottom line is, that when Wagner left, it looks like the only actual connection between Cruise and UA/MGM was broken, aside from his minority ownership position. http://deadline.com/2008/08/paula-wagner-out-at-united-artists-was-it-suicide-or-murder-by-mgm-6674/ On Sun, Mar 12, 2017 at 1:46 PM Tom Wolper <[email protected]> wrote: On Sun, Mar 12, 2017 at 12:26 PM, PGage <[email protected]> wrote: Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner were for a time co-owners not of MGM, but of UA, in partnership with MGM. Wagner was I think the CEO of whatever iteration of UA that was, this is about a decade ago. Wagner turned out a few (not many really) films over a couple of years, then they were bought out, I think by MGM, am not sure if Wagner maintained some involvement with UA after she left, but it looks like Cruise' films have been with Paramont lately (Last MI, Edge of Tomorrow, Jack Reacher II), so I dont think he is in any sense "helming" them. Back when I was following Hollywood news more closely I remember headlines about a fallout between Cruise and Wagner. So her business interests may have nothing to do with his these days. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
