Accessing via a VPN so that I can see what's actually on it, it looks as though they're keeping pretty up to date with all the British soaps. Coronation Street - the most popular one is curiously missing, and doesn't seem to be on Acorn either. What's not clear to me is why some shows seem to expire. A fairly recent episode of Casualty, that aired three weeks ago, is marked as "Last Chance." Indeed, it's not really clear why only seasons 30 and 31 are on the service and not - well - the other 29. Actually, I'm almost certain its a rights thing and that contracts with actors/writers/etc didn't include signing away streaming rights.
To be fair. it's not a terrible selection of shows and there are some real curiosities like the nightly paper review that airs on BBC News (essentially what's in tomorrow's papers). Remember, the BBC World News that airs outside the UK is different to the version we get in the UK. On other hand, I wouldn't wish Loose Women on my worst enemy (Think "The View" but much worse). There are some interesting things that have never made it to UK streaming services. A Very Peculiar Practice was a lovely British 80s series that has never been repeated here. I own it on DVD. And The Champions dates from the sixties! I had a look at Acorn TV and there's a really interesting mixture there. Less really long running series, but some really good stuff - some Australian and Irish series mixed in too. The Code is a great Aussie drama (ABC was, at one stage, going to remake it), and The Detectorists is one of the most lovely and gentle comedies I've seen in recent years.
