The passing today of the great Chuck Berry has reminded me of the first instance I can recall of a rock classic used as a theme song:
"Brothers and Sisters," a short-lived 1979 comedy set at a hard-partying college fraternity house - one of three short-lived shows that year inspired by (or ripped off from) the movie "Animal House" - used Berry's "Roll Over Beethoven" as its theme. The arrangement sounded suspiciously like ELO's version, with fragments of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony at the beginning and end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96TcPqSFqhI On Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 3:52:46 PM UTC-4, Steve Timko wrote: > > Eating my St. Patrick's Day lunch of corned beef and cabbage and red > potatoes, the restaurant's Sirius classic rock channel started playing > ELO's "Fire on High."
