The passing today of the great Chuck Berry has reminded me of the first 
instance I can recall of a rock classic used as a theme song:

"Brothers and Sisters," a short-lived 1979 comedy set at a hard-partying 
college fraternity house - one of three short-lived shows that year 
inspired by (or ripped off from) the movie "Animal House" - used Berry's 
"Roll Over Beethoven" as its theme. 
The arrangement sounded suspiciously like ELO's version, with fragments of 
Beethoven's Fifth Symphony at the beginning and end:
