As Sinclair Broadcast Group, the nation's largest TV station owner, is
supposedly kicking the tires of Tribune Broadcasting, 21st Century Fox is
supposedly hitching up with the Blackstone Group to purchase Trib, in what
some are saying seems to be an offensive move to keep Sinclair, whose
station portfolio includes a lot of Fox affils, from having more influence
on the network and demand more compensation from Fox:

Also, it seems to me that Sinclair wants to buy Tribune to easily get into
the country's major markets and be more able to attempt what they tried
some years ago--a national OTA conservative-leaning news service. They
already have the former CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson on their payroll
doing a Sunday morning show for the Sinclair stations and we all know who
doesn't have jobs at Fox News anymore.

And on the other side, if Fox does take over Tribune, they will have to
sell stations in New York, Chicago, LA and Washington, among other cities.
