This is all very true. Recently the channel was found to be in breach of
Ofcom rules as well for not being impartial on a subject! (I'm amazed it
hadn't been previously).

All the ads are replaced by UK ads, and filler material. Another issue is
that there are European rules on the volume of advertising an hour - around
10 minutes. Since most US channels broadcast more than this, and US feeds
have to have some of their ad breaks replaced with filler material. The
same is true when, say, MLB or NBA is being retransmitted overnight.

I did read one recent commentator who suggested that 21st C Fox wanted to
roll out the Fox News brand globally in the post-O'Reilly era. I doubt
that. Sky News is their international brand now, with versions in the UK,
Australia and an Arabic language version. I  think there's a version in
Italy too.

Wendy Walsh, meanwhile, is getting reasonable coverage of her visit in the
UK news.
