I have a bit of a television mystery on my hands, wondering if anyone here can solve it.
A couple of days ago I noticed that PBS was airing Season 7 of the Great British Baking Show (Bake Off). Watched the ones that were available so far, then noticed to my delight that on Netflix Seasons 4 - 6 were also available. Over the weekend I watched most of Season 4, but fell asleep last night, around the start of the Show-Stopper round. When I got around to it this morning I went back to watch the end of the episode (and season) - only to find that it was gone. Not only that, but Netflix now shows only Seasons 1 - 3 available. Amazon shows Season 4 available, but only the first 3 episodes. Ditto I-tunes. I googled a bit, but found no stories as to why the rest of Season 4, and all of Season 5-6, had been taken down (and actually no real evidence that they had ever been available). I might have thought my memories of Season 4 were all some kind of early summer fever dream, but that season did contain one particularly memorable young female contestant, who I was able to confirm was actually on. Eventually I did find a way to stream the finale via the kind of web site I usually avoid using, because I am happy to pay for the programming I watch, but in this case I felt a strong need to see the last 20 minutes. So, I believe seasons 4 -6 were available on Netflix (I accessed it originally through Xfinity) at least from early last week through yesterday (Saturday) night. I know things come and come from Netflix, but usually these days there are ways to get some warning, and my usual sources were mute about it leaving in June. Any clues? -- -- TV or Not TV ....
