Well, I'm treading onto delicate ground here, but here I go. There is a
problem with pro sports, especially the NFL, not taking domestic violence
problems seriously and sweeping them under the carpet. On the other hand,
part of the issue is that there is a fight between a player and a spouse or
sometimes  a fan/heckler and there can be alcohol and/or drugs involved.
The woman will strike first and the player will hit back. But the player is
210 pounds to 260 pounds of game-tested muscle and the player hits a lot
harder. The woman gets knocked out. That involves one bad moment  and may
not be typical behavior.
Vick did horrendous things over years, many, many times. He didn't just
kill losing dogs, he tortured them to death.
