Here is the review from the NYT of the whole show: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/05/arts/television/larry-david-snl-monologue-holocaust-joke.html
I did not mind the Holocaust bit from the monologue. I liked the way he led into it (noting that several of the perps in the news about sexually assaulting women were Jewish men). The bit itself was mostly underdeveloped - though it was a call-back in a way to the Seinfeld episode in which Jerry makes out with his gf in the theater during Schindler’s List. As the Times notes, much of the episode was a bit awkward- the part that was awkward because of the nature of the material I liked; the parts that were awkward because they seemed kind of lazy and low-energy, I did not. The best part of the episode was the sketch on giving an award to an old ad guys whose old material was so offensive; that was hilarious and had some texture to it. The worst part - and the part that I thought would be getting most of the criticism in the Sunday Morning Quartebacking - was using Baldwin, and so much, and specifically to make an oddly-chosen chocke about HW, so soon after his own callous comments about Rose McGowan on PBS. Baldwin took himself off Twitter, but SNL could not bench him for even one week (and anyway, wouldn’t the shower sketch that alluded to the famous Gone Girl scene have played better with just Sessions and Manafort?) http://ew.com/tv/2017/11/04/alec-baldwin-harvey-weinstein-rose-mcgowan/ On Sun, Nov 5, 2017 at 4:28 AM Steve Timko <[email protected]> wrote: > Jewish concentration camp joke misfires. > > https://youtu.be/G0eeNijdv3I > > Not sent from an iPhone. > > -- > -- > TV or Not TV ....
