It depends on how ambitious Amazon is going to be. When first seeing this I
rolled my eyes and then thought about how dated my assumptions are. My
assumptions: the number of characters has to drop, the sets have to fit
into a soundstage, and the plots have to fill a season of TV. But that was
for the old way of doing TV. Amazon could do short seasons, which keeps
plots from dragging on and having filler episodes. They can go the Game of
Thrones route and use a huge ensemble of characters and lots of matte
paintings and CGI to make imaginative sets. The question is how much Amazon
wants to invest in the show.
