My inclination is that they're seriously going to spend on this. Jeff Bezos wants his version of Game of Thrones, and they've reportedly spent $250m simply buying the *rights*. That doesn't include a single second of television. I can see them easily spending $100m-$150m for a season of ten episodes. Reports suggest that Netflix's The Crown is the most expensive show currently being produced at $130m for the first season, and that's without massive star salaries eating up the production budget. I can see Amazon topping that. Money isn't really an issue at this point. So yes, I can see them going the vast Game of Thrones route: large bespoke soundstages; crews in multiple territories; no expense spared.
