All too true. Credit where credit is due, through TVorNotTV, I have found a
few people on Twitter who do attend things like local city council meetings
and post about local events. I attempted to find Facebook groups that cover
local goings-on, but so far they are what Aaron Sorkin likes to call the
"pajama people," and though they are good for a laugh, they aren't helpful
at sharing information.

In their current format, I don't understand the point of local TV news
anymore. They do not offer anything that cannot be obtained easier by apps
on my phone (and as Tom just pointed out, the local news people are getting
their material from their phones as well, so you might as well just use
your own phones and eliminate the middleman). Headlines with no context,
weather, entertainment stories, feel good fluff, and sports scores? Why
would I tune in at a time that isn't of my choosing and sit through a show
order that isn't of my choosing to have people read stories they haven't
written?
