The premise is basically “Candid Camera” but with semi-famous celebs and politicians being pranked. When I was a kid we rented one of those “best of” VHS compilations of Allan Funt. Whomever does the pranking, and whomever the subject of the pranking, the premise runs out of steam in about an hour. Cohen, like Candid Camera or Punk’d, has been doing the same thing for so long, it cannot possibly hold any appeal except to those who watch specifically to see his prank victims made out to be the fools they are. Not needing evidence that people like Sarah Palin are fools, I have no desire to watch.
