My mom was a Detroit gal as well, but in her day the city was extremely segregated, so sadly not much chance she and Aretha bumped into each other, even though they are roughly the same age. My mom tells the story of how she and her brother got in trouble one day because they were spotted walking home from school on the same side of the street as the Catholic church. Apparently Lutherans weren’t supposed to mix with Catholics. Yeah... I know. > > On Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:22:35 AM UTC-4, Bob Jersey wrote: >> >> >> As a young kid hearing her sing in the 70s, I hoped to meet Aretha >> Franklin. >> >> She passed this morning in Detroit. 76. >> >> Yahoo News >> <https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/aretha-franklin-queen-soul-greatest-singer-time-dies-76-140021145.html> >> (link) >> >> B >> >> -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "TVorNotTV" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. > -- Kevin M.
