I mainlined the whole thing Friday night and yesterday (after the funeral). I read the first 3-4 Clancy books (despite political objections, I am a sucker for the genre). I like Krasinski fine as Ryan - not as good as Baldwin, but better than the other three who have played the role in movies (yes, including Ford). Ryan is supposed to be an egghead analyst who is an effective operator underneath a boring and conventional appearance. Krasinski has a muscular build but that diffident personality, so a good combo for the role IMO. Most of the story is warmed over Clancy, with less techno-weapons stuff than I would have liked. For me, it is adequate, but merely more of the same and not really innovative in either style or substance.
