As Stephen's beard seemed the same, I'd wager it was done same day as the show
taping, maybe the day before.

The Late Show did a skit about trouble accepting Krasinki as an action guy.
Think they shot it Tuesday?LINK

I mainlined the whole thing Friday night and yesterday (after the funeral). I
read the first 3-4 Clancy books (despite political objections, I am a sucker
for the genre). I like Krasinski fine as Ryan - not as good as Baldwin, but
better than the other three who have played the role in movies (yes, including
Ford). Ryan is supposed to be an egghead analyst who is an effective operator
underneath a boring and conventional appearance. Krasinski has a muscular build
but that diffident personality, so a good combo for the role IMO. Most of the
story is warmed over Clancy, with less techno-weapons stuff than I would have
liked. For me, it is adequate, but merely more of the same and not really
innovative in either style or substance.

“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” dropped on Netflix. This is anotherversion of the
Clancy story about a CIA analyst named Jack Ryan. John Krasinskiis in the title
role. I’m two episodes in and I’m still have problems acceptingKrasinki in the
role. It may be me, not something Krasinki is doing. Theydarkened his hair and
his eyebrows, but I still see the goof from the U.S.version of “The Office.” He
hasn’t  lostthe Dundler-Mifflin aroma. He’s a talented guy and his “A Quiet
Place” was sucha big hit he’s getting a sequel. So far, it’s not working for me.

Wendell Pierce, who had an iconic role as Bunk in “The Wire,”plays Ryan’s boss.
It doesn’t seem to be a good fit. I’m not buying Pierce as awarrior. And the
tension they try to create between him and Ryan seems clichéd andforced. The
story is conventional in other aspects too. Ryan and his loveinterest meet
cute.  Some plot points aretelegraphed long ahead. And there’s too many
coincidences for me.

They jump in to technical terms but are slow to explain it.Maybe the general
public knows about huawala, the Arabian money exchangesystem. I only know about
it because I read Greg Campbell’s excellent book, “BloodDiamonds.”

I give them points for trying to give some depth to theterrorists. They’re not
just caricatures like in a Chuck Norris movie. Plus weget a nude scene with a
hot Arab chick. Some movie cliches are okay, I guess.
