“Bumping Mics with Jeff Ross & Dave Attell” is a Netflix comedy special that dropped a couple of weeks ago. They taped three shows at New York’s Comedy Cellar. The name comes from their bumping of microphones after what they feel is a good joke, like bumping fists.
Attell is one of my favorite comedians and why I watched the show. For me he has most of the best jokes, but he also seems a little tired here. Ross is known as the roastmaster general for hosting comedy roasts. For me, a little Ross goes a long way. A problem I have with Ross is a problem I have with Trevor Noah. I don’t like his voice so I tend to not like the jokes. The guests they bring on have mixed success. Gilbert Gottfried drug down the second show for me. He has his fans, though, as they chant his name to bring him on stage. The third show gets into the uncomfortable zone. They bring a veteran badly injured in combat on stage and, at his request, roast him, including commenting on his looks and disfigurement. On the one hand, I want to respect his right to take part in the mainstream, but this was too much ick for me. This show probably cost $1.50 to produce, so I think we’ll see more. If Attelll is in it, I’ll watch. But this show seems better for fans of Attell and Ross and not so much for the public. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
