"Stark Raving Dad" was a third season episode (1991), so any accusations against Jackson were still nascent when it originally aired. Sure, there have been plenty of rumors and scandals over the years, but MJ always came away (reasonably) clean, so there was never a need to pull the episode. "Leaving Neverland" obviously presented new evidence that FOX couldn't ignore.
