All of the media companies are investing tons of money into original programming. So far there's no race to the bottom for cheap programming and certainly no reason for hour after hour of infomercial programming that cable channels do in their off hours. There's no regional cable monopoly to deal with. Nobody's forced into tiers. There's no claim that the expensive channels subsidize the niche ones and if the niche ones had to stand alone they'd be unsustainable. The down side, of course, was stated by Marc Maron: "People want me to watch the shows they're on and not only have I never heard of the show, I have never heard of the channel." -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
