I'm curious, for selfish reasons, how this will impact the Canadian market.
Most Canadians have OTA access to the big three or four - CTV, Global, CBC,and City -- which between them mirror most of the US network primetime programs. And most Canadians with cable have American feeds of the main networks plus PBS, and in some cases two sets (I have CBS/NBC/ABC/Fox/PBS from Spokane and Detroit). As for cable programming, some channels exist and simulcast in both countries (AMC, FXX), some channels have identically-named Canadian versions that carry most programming (IFC), some have analogue channels that seem to carry most of each other's stuff (MuchMusic carries a lot of MTV, Comedy Channel carries a lot of Comedy Central), and finally the premium channels tend to be bundled together (My "HBO" package gives me HBO Canada, which carries all the series and a lot of the one-off episodes, as well as Showtime). Streaming is a dog's breakfast. Netflix Canada carries all the original programming of Netflix US but there are vast differences in the licensed stuff. Amazon Prime in Canada just started providing access to its streaming services. Hulu isn't accessible unless you have VPN. I haven't heard anything about Disney, Warner, CBS, or anything else being available in Canada. If they don't have deals for these streaming services in Canada, I predict an uptick of Kodi-type boxes.
