Nothing related to television can make me happier than a Deadwood finale
film (well, maybe the two 2-hour films we were once promised, sepite the
protestations of Mrs. Milch in the linked article, but I m not greedy).
Milch’s Condition is sad, yet it would have been easy to predict an even
more dismal and painful finale for his personal story, so maybe that’s not
so bad either.

My understanding was that Deadwood ended so abruptly not so much because of
the financial disputes, but because Milch impulsively and narcissistically
insisted on starting on “John” which he was reported to believe was some
kind of transcendent masterpiece. I would be relieved to get confirmation
of this.
