The difference for me is that, while Kenan (like everyone who has ever been on that show) occasionally overplays, he's always firmly committing to the bit and the premise. McKinnon (and the odious Wiig) never do anything but overplay and do variations on one character, just shifting the voice a little. I would be very hard-pressed to distinguish the former's Jeff Sessions from her Lindsay Graham or the woman who is abducted by aliens from the abused movie star or the barfly trying to pick up people in that seedy bar. Of course, it doesn't help that those sketches are always just extensions of previous iterations of those sketches. (And in the last, Kenan's bartender is always a standout for me.)
