This is a question I've come across several times in my former professional roles as social media lead for major brands such as Business Week, Bloomberg and KPMG.
The solution I've recommended was to post a brief paraphrase of the main point of the article followed by the link, and then if a subscription or registration was needed, add (sub) or (reg) to alert the reader the they would NOT necessarily get the one-click satisfaction I've they click the link that we strived for to drive user satisfaction. That way it gave everyone an idea of the main point of the article but also let them know that if they wanted to read more they shouldn't be surprised that a paywall would be in their way representing an additional "cost", either in time or money, before they get to the info they expected to see.
