Mark - I don't think that would apply to WWE, since a) they're not TECHNICALLY a competitive sport (rather, "sports entertainment TM"), and b) they're NOT a monopoly in the strictest sense (they're not as large, but IMPACT, AEW and Ring of Honor all have national TV clearances).
