I think you’d have to look high and low to find another comic of his generation as actively involved in charities than he was. Once I was older than eight or nine, I was officially too old to appreciate either Full House or America’s Funniest Videos, but I’m a fan of his stand-up. And some of his appearances seated next to Johnny Carson are great late night TV.
