The lede that is buried here for me: Universal DH. I am old enough to remember baseball when there was universal no DH, and those days were much better. I despise the DH, but have consoled myself that at least it has provided an enduring way to differentiate the two leagues. Differentiation is what helps to justify and make meaningful the World Series, which, particularly since inter league play (something else I continue to dislike) has become less and less important.
