I have not worked the Oscars, but I’ve worked nearly every other awards
show, and been in or around the writers room for those. True, a comic might
submit a joke or two if he/she is presenting, but it is rare and extremely
rare that a joke is not rehearsed multiple times before the live show. I’ll
reach out to Bruce Vilanch on his Facebook, as he has years of direct
experience in those writers rooms. But I would say at the very least there
was collaboration between the room and Rock.
