I’m no legal expert, but I’m glad they did this. The firearm sentencing
enhancement, which would have taken an Involunatry Manslaughter convict or
from a 1.5 to 5 year minimum sentence, is reported to have based on a law
passed after the incident.

The mist common mistake made by prosecutors in high profile cases is
over-charging, which undercuts their credibility with the jury. The theory
of the case here is not that Baldwin had any malice or intent to harm, but
was reckless and irresponsible in his actions. That seems like a reasonable
and provable case, just stick to that and get a conviction.
