I know Chris Willman, the writer from Variety who posted the article yesterday critical of the music video that boosted the signal which led to its removal. Willman’s now getting threats and slurs from exactly the sort of people you’d expect.
As I commented on his Facebook page, if we want to have a serious discussion about small town life, let’s discuss that small town residents are more likely to be addicted to drugs and alcohol. They are also more likely to be involved in domestic violence. And small towns typically have poorer schools than most big cities, and poor to nonexistent medical care. I’ve never understood those who boast about small town living… as someone who, unlike Aldean, actually lived in a small town, it’s horrible and songs should be sung about the reality of that.
