Friday night (2-24) Arianespace will attempt again, after a scrub
Tuesday night, to kick off 2006 with the first launch of a Ariane 5 ECA
rocket (v.170)with SPAINSAT for Hisdesat and HOT BIRD 7A for Eutelsat,
from ELA-3, Kourou, French Guiana, South America.

Tuesday nights scrub was caused by an anomaly with ground support
equipment used to prepare the launcher that required return to the Final
Assembly Building 2.8-km away from the launch zone for replacement of
the faulty component.
The Ariane 5 ECA was returned to the launch zone Thursday morning.

Launch is set for 5:11 p.m. EST. with a window extending to 6:21 p.m. EST.

Spacecraft separation for SPAINSAT is expected 27 minutes after lift off
and 32 minutes after liftoff for HOT BIRD 7A.

Spainsat, built by Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, California, will
have 13 X-band transponders and one Ka-band transponders dedicated to
secure Spanish government communications. It will be positioned at 30
degrees West, over the Atlantic, and will take over for the Secomsat
military payloads on the Hispasat 1A and 1B satellites.

Hot Bird 7A, built by Alcatel Alenia, will have 38 Ku-band transponders,
designed to renew current capacity and also provide redundancy for the
Hot Bird family of satellites at 13 degrees East serving Europe, the
Middle East and North Africa with TV and radio broadcasting.
