This upcoming Tuesday evening (2/28) the first Proton M/Breeze M rocket of 2006 is scheduled to launch ARABSAT 4A communications satellite for Arabsat, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from Launch Pad 39, Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
Launch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. EST. Spacecraft Separation is approximately 4 hours after liftoff ARABSAT 4A, built by EADS Astrium, Toulouse, France, a hybrid satellite has 24 C-band transponders and 16 Ku-band transponders, will carry direct-to-home, interactive TV and internet broadband services, with additional capacity to accommodate anticipated demand for high-definition TV serving the Arab countries and neighboring regions. ARABSAT 4A will be located at 26 degrees east longitude. Satellite Broadcast coverage: IA-6 (Telstar 6) at 93°W, transponder 9 C-Band (3880 V) analog Test signals begin about 2:30 p.m. EST. Broadcast starts about 2:45 p.m. EST.
