Sea Launch has rescheduled yet again to make an attempt on Monday evening (1-29) to be the first launch of year of a Zenit-3SL rocket,launching NSS-8 communications satellite for SES New Skies from the Odyssey Launch Platform positioned on the equator in the Pacific Ocean.
The off nominal sea conditions has coninued to be an issue at the launch site causing for the delay. Launch window opens at 6:22 p.m. EST. with a window extending to 6:59 p.m. EST. Spacecraft separation around 1 hour after lift off over the Indian Ocean. NSS-8 satellite is a Boeing 702 spacecraft with 56 C-band and 36 Ku-band transponders and will replace the existing NSS-703 satellite. NSS-8 will provide coverage to two-thirds of the globe, serving countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Asia, providing broadcast applications, government and military operations, corporate communications and Broadband Internet services.
