Yes, you can buy a receiver and subscribe on the Dish Network “Cash & Carry”
program.
You are limited to the packages available through Dish Network. You cannot
just pick A La Carte like C-Band.
I am in Westminster (about 15 miles from you) and would be glad to help.
I would need to know if your “Dual LNBF” is a Legacy (older dual) or DP
(Dish Pro) or DP Plus.
You may still be better off getting on their lease program for free install
and receiver discounts to Free.

I am new to this group and have been reading all the posts from the
first of the year. So far, everything I have read has been very
informative.

My house has a dish that was left by the previous owners. It is a
model Dish500 with dual LNB. Can I buy a receiver that is compatible with
Dish Network programming, hook it up, subscribe to a service for
tv reception and expect it to work?

If yes, what receiver would be most compatible?

I am located in North Orange County of Southern California. Carbon
Canyon to be exact. The dish has a clear view of the southern sky.

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks,

JM
