Today (12-21) Arianespace is set to launch, a Ariane 5 GS (v.180) with Rascom 1 for RascomStar-QAF. and Horizons 2 for Horizons 2 Satellite LLC, from ELA-3, Kourou, French Guiana, South America.
Launch is set for 4:14 p.m. EST. with a window extending to 4;58 p.m. EST. Spacecraft separation for Rascom 1 is expected 28 minutes after lift off and 32 minutes after liftoff for Horizons 2. Horizons-2, built by Orbital Sciences, is a STAR 2 platform and has 20 Ku-band transponders providing HDTV and IP-based content distribution in North America, serving the continental United States, the Caribbean and parts of Canada. and will be located at 74° West. Horizons-2 will be operated by the Horizons 2 Satellite LLC joint venture of Intelsat and Japan’s JSAT.
