Here are the details - I first created a new partition /saifi on a SATA disk Then issued the command mount /dev/sda3 /saifi The system responded with the following lines in the log kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds EXT3 FS on sda3, internal journal EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode The env is : Suse Linux 10.1 running 2.6.16.13-4-default kernel on x86 hardware.
