Hi, In such scenarios where you need to recompile a kernel to enable DMA. Sysrescue CD comes in handy it is available at http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page . You can boot into CD and do a rsync from one disk to another. It is also a good weapon for people who tinker a lot with their linux systems.
