Sr. Principal Software Engineer
Job Description
This job involves designing and coding of software solutions as part of a
software product development process. It has significant technical content and
apart from providing design solutions the candidate is also required to be
hands-on in terms of writing code.
The position is part of a team of 10 engineers and hence there is an
opportunity for the candidate to work at different levels. At one level the
candidate will have an opportunity to design solutions and at other level he /
she is expected to write good quality C++ code.
· Set technical product direction by weighing industry trends, competitive
information, and product requirements
· Responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete
software components.
· Anticipates problems and future technical needs and takes necessary
corrective steps to ensure they are addressed
· Is looked upon to offer direction, guidance and mentoring to lesser skilled
individuals on the team
· Designs, develops and maintains high-quality code for highly complex products.
· Propose, define, setup, and standardize the coding and design standards,
strategies and code review standards that are comprehensive, easy to implement,
and effective.
· Has the ability to work on, prioritize multiple assignments and projects
· Ensure strict adherence to Symantec guidelines and quality control procedures
Experience
Strictly between 9-13 years in Software Engineering
Education Preferred
Bachelors / Masters of Engineering in Computer Science (preferred) or other
streams
Technical Skills
Must Have
· The candidate must be proficient in C and C++ programming.
· Good understanding of Peer to Peer technology
· Socket Programming
· Knowledge of internals about TCP and UDP protocols
· Good understanding of networking layers
· Knowledge of Linux and Windows programming
· Good knowledge of NAT and Firewalls
· Excellent Problem solving skills
Good to Have - IPv6, Cryptography, Hashing algorithms. Knowledge of Anti-Virus
and Decomposer technologies are an advantage,
