Start with Windows Vista. Install Gentoo 2008.0 /boot as primary partition but swap and / as extended. Plan for /home sharing across OpenSuSe 11 and Gentoo 2008 by creating an independent partition (extended) Finally install OpenSuSe 11 /boot on a primary partition and write the grub on MBR. Use grub to chainload Vista. 2. dual boot with Solaris 10 and OpenSuSe 11 / Gentoo 2008.0 note: Solaris grub understand linux partitions, but standard grub does not understand solaris slices. so, we should use Solaris grub first install solaris in a single primary partition. All the solaris partitions will go in as slices. Install Solaris grub on the MBR Next install OpenSuSe 11 or Gentoo 2008.0 with grub package. But don't install the grub on MBR (just ignore that step) Update the /boot/grub/menu.lst entry on Solaris 10 box to reflect the Linux boot partition. Hope this helps. thanks Saifi.
