Hi Mukund: Keep the BSNL userid and password handy with you. Connect your laptop/desktop to the BSNL modem, through a UTP cable. Start a browser eg. firefox and type http://192.168.1.1/ as the url. You will be prompted for userid/passwd of the router. Just type in 'admin' as userid and 'admin' as password. In the settings for your connection, enter your dataone userid/password and then apply the changes. To make sure you got it right, please click the 'test settings' link which will show PASS and FAIL for each of the connections. Finally logout from the modem/router. What we have achieved by the step above is that everytime, we power on the modem, it will get connected to BSNL dataone. Now configure, your laptop/desktop to acquire IP address from a DHCP server. Since you are running OpenSuSe Linux 11, goto Yast and select network interface and then choose DHCP. Apply the settings and you are pretty much set. To test, just run the command 'ping www.twincling.org' The response should be IP address and the round trip time for the Ping echo reply to be received. To exit, just type CTRL+C Just in case you see the reply, unknown domain www.twincling.org, log in as root and edit the file /etc/resolv.conf Make the following entries: nameserver 202.56.250.6 nameserver 202.148.202.4 These entries are for DNS servers for BSNL Hyderabad. Let me know how it goes. thanks Saifi.
