Hi, mii-tool => only gives information whether the link is up or not, thus used to see whether our drivers are properly installed and is our network card detected properly.
ifconfig -> gives information about the ip set to the system, mak address, gateway etc. also it can used to set the ip address temporarily to the system like, *ifconfig eth0 <ip address>* regards indraveni On Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 9:04 PM, Saifi Khan <[email protected]>wrote: > Hi all: > > What is the difference between mii-tool and ifconfig ? > > i'm seeing some folks write about mii-tool configuration while > the other continue to specify the same configuration wit > ifconfig. > > Any observations ? > > > thanks > Saifi. > > ------------------------------------ > > ----------------------------------------------------------- > Twincling Technology Foundation > freedom of innovation > http://www.twincling.org/ > ----------------------------------------------------------- > Yahoo!
